Silver Jubilee Government College emerged on the glorious eve of Silver Jubilee Celebrations of Indian Independence in 1972. It is the brain-child of Sri P. V. Narasimha Rao, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh then, who wanted to establish a state-wide institution to forge emotional integration of the people of the three regions of the state when its integration was threatened by the separatist movements.
K.V.R. Govt. College for Women(A) is one which caters to the higher educational needs of the women of Rural Rayalaseema Region with an attached Student Managed Hostel boarding consisting of nearly 1100 students. It came into existence from 27th July, 1958 by the Government of A.P. through the initiative of the founder donor Sri Kasireddy Venkata Reddy and it is named after him.
Govt. College for Men , Kurnool was established in the year 1971 with the pious trails of the leader Sri Kotla Vijaya Bhaskar Reddy , Ex Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh. The college could secure its own site and building. By 1993 it became full-fledged college with both conventional and restructured undergraduate courses in both English and Telugu media of instruction. Adorned with knowledgeable teachers, the college progressed and is now in the present shape with concrete credits and appreciation from the stakeholders. Re-Assessed by NAAC in 2019 with B+ grade.
